Sports Coach Simulators Used at the Open

The Open Championship 2014 saw some of the world's finest golfers such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy at Royal Liverpool golf club in Hoylake. The worlds oldest Major ran from from 13th - 20th July 2014. The tournament was won by people's favorite Rory McIroy, which is surely going to make golf even more popular. As always, several spectator events took place both at the club and at local venues. This year, ten Sports Coach golf simulators were used at a variety of events, with each one offering various challenges on the Open course.
For the event, Sports Coach developed several versions of this year's Open course and provided several unique contests that could be utilised by events companies.These included:- Longest Drive Challenge at the beginning of the 18th fairway, Nearest the Pin from 100 yards out in the rough, a Bunker Challenge from the 18th left greenside bunker and other challenges that could be configured on any of the 18 holes. The Bunker Challenge feature has since been integrated into the GPS Golf Simulator software, enabling contests to be run from any greenside bunker on any golf course. When used inconjunction with the Multi Surface Mat, genuine bunker shots can be played. Customers can download the latest software version including the Bunker Challenge free of charge.
